AUTHORITIES WERE WARNED
“Before the sanatorium authorities decided to go to Greenvale, they were told by me, in response to verbal inquires, that there was no chance of getting water supplied from metropolitan service except at a prohibitive cost.”
This statement was made by Mr E.J Ritchie engineer for water supply, at the Board of Works today, in referring to the plight of the Greenvale sanatorium thought lack of a water supply.
“When the difficulties were pointed out to the authorities” added Mr Ritchie, “they decided that, as the site was so desirable they would provide their own water supply, and this was done.”
