MAHER, HUGH JOHN.
An electrician from Mathinna Tasmania he embarked Melbourne 19th October 1914 on board “HMAT Hororata” with the 6th Infantry Battalion.
He was severely wounded in action in Egypt and then developed tuberculosis and was discharged and sent to the Greenvale Sanitorium in Melbourne.
He died 9th September 1918 at the 6th Australian General Hospital from tuberculosis, pneumonia and heart failure and was later buried in the Toowong Cemetery, Brisbane, Queensland, Australia.
