MEDICOS ADVISE POWER OF INSPECTION.
Some important recommendations are made at the conference of representatives of the various State Health departments to consider the subject of tuberculosis. It has been agreed that in order to safeguard public health, health officers should have power to inquire into the conditions under which consumptives live in their homes. It is recommended that State Governments should give power to remove dangerous cases to an institution: and that Boards of Health should have power to deal with neglected cases, and to detain cases if thought necessary. The Commonwealth Government is to be asked to prohibit the entrance of consumptives into Australia and to order the examination of persons at ports of departure. The delegates paid a visit to the Greenvale Sanatorium for Consumptives at Broadmeadows.
