It has been ascertained that the letter read in Parliament last week by Mr. Hogan, in which allegations of mismanagement and “peculation” were directed against officials of the Board of Health, was written by Mr. D. P. Russell, who in October last opposed Mr. Jowett at the by-election for the Grampians. Mr. Russell has been asked to formulate definite charges on which an inquiry may be based, but he has intimated that he is at present too ill to be interviewed. It is unlikely that as the result of the publicity given to the alleged grievances of patients the whole question of the management of the sanatorium will be reviewed.
