GREENVALE SANATORIUM.
Improvements to cooling-room.
a visit by the secret in of the Health Commission (Mr. T Dimelow) to the Greenvale Sanatorium was made yesterday for the purpose of inspecting tile milking sheds cooling-room, and general dairying conditions .
The inspection followed upon the adverse report by a veterinary officer of the Department of Agriculture (Mr W.D Shew, since the visit of Mr Shaw).
The cooling shed which is attached to the dairy, has been lined and whitewashed, and in door has been provided.
The shed was in a clean condition and free from flies yesterday, though many flies were noticed in the milking sheds.
The cooler was in good working order.
It was supplied with water from a large iron tank, a second tank containing, 8 000 gallons of water being available if necessary.
Mr Dimelow said that when the building was visited by Mr Shew the cooler had been dismantled in preparation for the new installation.
The institution had been without a cooler for only two weeks.
The milk remained in the cooling shed for less than two hours, and it was then taken to the dairy at the Sanatorium.
All milk was consumed within 12 hours of its production.
No milk had been outlined from an, outside source for many years.
