A FAREWELL PARTY AT GREENVALE SANATORIUM
LAVISHLY decorated with orange and white streamers and orange lamp shades, the concert hall at the Greenvale Sanatorium has never looked better than on Saturday night, July 8, when everyone at the institution joined in giving a farewell tea to Matron Annie May, who has been appointed matron of the Heatherton Sanatorium.
Credit for happily providing for the 170 persons present, including many invalids in lounge chairs, fell upon Dr. Margaret Playle, the director.
Two long tables in the centre of the hall seated all those patients well enough to sit up, while those in lounge chairs encircled the hall.
Visitors, nurses and staff were gathered together around the guest of honour at the top table.
Speeches were made by Dr. Playle, Dr. Watson, of Heatherton Sanatorium; Mr T. Dimelow, former secretary of the Public Health Department; and Mr P. Kennedy, representing the present Secretary of Public Health (Mr C. Robinson).
Mr N. Mason, who has been the organising spirit in free concerts given at the Greenvale Sanatorium for 35 years, was responsible for the pleasant entertainment which followed the tea.
