A constable yesterday arrested two of four men as they menaced him with pea rifles at Greenvale.
In a paddock behind Greenvale Sanatorium Constable C. O’Toole, of Broadmeadows, saw four men dismantling a car stolen from outside West Melbourne Stadium on Friday night.
O’Toole was creeping on the men with his revolver drawn when they heard him.
The men turned guns on O’Toole and told him they would shoot him if he came closer.
O’Toole walked towards one of the men, pushed his rifle aside, and arrested him and a man near him.
The other men fled. A large squad of police was rushed to the area and searched paddocks without finding the fugitives.
Late last night police raided a house at East Brunswick and detained a man.
Three men have been questioned at Moonee Ponds C.I.B.
