Wards for T.B. Patients
Further improvements in the treatment of female sufferers from tuberculosis will be marked when buildings provided for in tenders that will close shortly with the Public Works department have been erected.
At present many of the patients at GreenVale Sanatorium, an institution for women, are housed in buildings regarded as obsolete.
The existing accommodation caters for approximately 100 patients, and it is not proposed to extend this, but rather to carry out a complete rebuilding scheme.
Three large wooden wards, each to contain 24 beds; are covered by the tenders now being invited, and in these will be incorporated the most modern improvements based on experience in the treatment of the dread disease in Victoria and in other countries.
The new wards will be of the pavilion type, and it is expected they will be completed in about 4 1/2 months.
